Coheed and Cambria return to the DMV alongside Alkaline Trio & Mothica at The Anthem! With a few changes to the tours support, it was finally set in stone and we got treated to two amazing sets, one from Mothica and another from Alkaline Trio.
After a super energetic set from Mothica (due to a late arrival we missed their set) it was time for Matthew Skiba and his band Alkaline Trio to take the stage. Now the last time I saw these guys in concert I wasn’t really impressed, their set wasn’t super energetic and it felt like there was a slight disconnect with the crowd. But guess what NOT THIS TIME, Alkaline Trio took the stage by force and really got things amped up. The crowd was locked in and the energy was at an all time high. Practically setting the bar super high for the headliners, Coheed and Cambria.
Alkaline Trio gave it their all, played a pretty full set list full of their hits, a sixteen song setlist to be exact. Which included Warbrain, Blackbird, Cringe, Back to Hell and Fatally Yours. The band even joked around with the fans in between songs. Lets just say I was super impressed this time with Alkaline Trio and cannot wait to see them again! Check out their full setlist below:

After a fantastic set from Alkaline Trio, the stage was set, a giant blow up goat head took over the back of the stage and a giant Coheed and Cambria logo/emblem was set in front of the raised drum kit it was time for the men of the hour. The lights went out and the fans went absolutely crazy, the light show was insane. Coheed and Cambria are always known for the best light shows and the insane production. Every single time I’ve seen them they have pulled out all the stops. I don’t know what is better at a Coheed show, the lighting or the fact that front man Claudio Sanchez has THE BEST HAIR FLIPS. Hands down. The setlist was jam packed with hit after hit from the Coheed and Cambria discography. The took the stage with an intro song of Iron Maiden’s Aces High, the immediately went into the first song of the night, Prologue.
Coheed and Cambria gave the fans a sixteen song setlist featuring fan favorites such as The Liars Club, Ghost, A Disappearing Act and The Embers of Fire and ended their set with Window of the Waking Mind. But that was not all, the fans craved more. Coheed and Cambria came back out and treated the fans to a two song encore which consisted of The Suffering and Welcome Home.
