Last time we saw Del Water Gap in the District we saw them opening two sold out shows for Maggie Rogers. Back then it was easy to tell that they needed a headlining gig for themselves. From the moment they stepped on stage it was clear that this band was ready to command the stage.
The performance was a journey through a spectrum of emotions, as lead singer and songwriter, S. Holden Jaffe, poured his heart and soul into every note. His vocals were both strong and heartfelt, leaving the crowd in awe of his raw talent. From a set design inspired by a hotel room to the chemistry of the band the performance was not only intimate but exciting.
The iconic D.C. venue was the perfect setting for this show, allowing for a deep connection between the band and their fans. Jaffe even pointed at how much heading a show at the 9:30 Club meant to him and how crucial of a moment it was in an already successful musical journey which nearly ended back during the pandemic. Thankfully instead of quitting music we got an incredibly crafted new album in “I Miss You Already + I Haven’t Left Yet”.
Del Water Gap’s performance in Washington, D.C. was a testament to their artistry and ability to create a genuine connection with their audience. It was a night that left everyone in attendance feeling moved and inspired, proving once again that Del Water Gap is a rising star in the indie music scene.
