March 29th 2022: Night one of two SOLD OUT Glass Animals shows were a total dreamland for the six thousand fans that filled the Anthem here in Washington DC.
WOW is all I can say. I honestly can’t even explain how amazing it was to be able to see Glass Animals FINALLY. I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect from them. Newly a fan of their music, Glass Animals exceeded all expectations and beyond.
Shortly after the doors opened, the large general admission pit filled with people, so many people flocked to get the best spot on the rail. The stage was set with a large platform for the band to perform on that was filled with pink monochromatic props like oversized palm trees, an oversized basketball hoop, hanging LED signs and a diving board that looked out over the crowd. And we definitely cannot forget the giant computer screen that matched the show’s vintage technology aesthetic, which hung at the back of the stage and required a username and password to “log in.” After the opening band, Sad Night Dynamite it was time for Glass Animals to take the stage, roughly around 9:15pm or so.
The lights went out and the giant computer screen began a countdown and teased fans as it clicked on the “Glass Animals” folder. The band then took the stage after the quick intro and opened up their set with Dreamland. After photographing the standard first three songs, I made my way back to the VIP platform to watch the remainder of the set and let me just say it was a sea of people, packed from side to side and left to right. It was an incredible site to see. A sold out Glass Animals show.
The band was in absolute awe. Frontman Dave was just blown away by how loud Washington DC was, and it was only night one of the dreamland tour. Glass Animals had a pretty solid setlist for their fans on this tour. Whether it was older material or newer material the fans knew every single song word for word. There was no moment when the venue got quiet. The band played a fourteen song setlist and that is not including the two song encore.
