Maggie Lindemann is a product of what we see too often nowadays where we see young artists experience rapid growth very quickly due to social media success later struggling to find their place in the industry. Lindemann touches on this in an interview with Upset Magazine when talking about her hit song “Pretty Girl” expressing the struggles of having your dreams come true met with the harsh demands of being signed to a label at a young age. Maggie has since found a new sound that she can more closely relate to.
Recently, I had the opportunity to cover her show when she performed at the Howard Theater in the back leg of her U.S. tour in support of her new album Suckerpunch, needless to say the Maggie of old is dead and she is reborn in the world of new age hard rock. You immediately could recognize the confidence she possessed on stage as well as a deep connection with her fans, even so much as to bring a lucky member on stage to take sole control of the mic and live as a rockstar for a time. Performing in front of her mother you couldn’t help but feel that Lindemann was putting everything she had into a special performance. Not for a second it felt like the moment was too large and I expect now with this new sense of purpose within music Lindemann will continue to progress in a proper path to success and break the mold of a social media talent.
