Exclusive Interview: Caroline Jones

We recently got to sit down and chat with rising country music artist Caroline Jones. Jones has got to open up for MANY big name artists in the country music world such as Jimmy Buffet, Kenny Chesney and more!

The Vinyl: For those who don’t know who you are, mind introducing yourself as well as a random fact no one knows about you?
Caroline Jones: My name is Caroline Jones; I am a singer, songwriter, musician and producer. Random facts: My favorite foods are avocado and chocolate and I was trained classically in opera.

The Vinyl: You recently released your debut full-length record back in March called Bare Feet, how has the fans reaction been to your release? I’m sure the feedback has been amazing since it has so many amazing tracks on it.

CJ: It has been truly gratifying to share my album “Bare Feet” with new fans on tour this Summer. I’m seeing people sing along to my lyrics at shows for the first time, which is a dream come true. And I love meeting fans face to face and connecting with them personally at my meet and greets after every show.

TV: What was the writing & recording process for your full length? Are there new techniques you’ve learned while writing & recording that you hope to bring to future material?

CJ: Absolutely. Writing and co-producing this album taught me a lot about blending organic and electronic elements in a production. It also made me a better musician, as I played most of the instruments on this album. I love country instruments like banjo, dobro, acoustic guitar and mandolin, but I also love programmed beats, vocal effects and synths, and wanted to create a production style that married those worlds.

TV: What inspired some of the tracks on Bare Feet such as the single of the record, Bare Feet?

CJ: “Bare Feet” is a song about authenticity and joy. The lyrics are essentially my personal mission statement set to music. I write a lot of introspective songs; even my love songs tend to cover the emotional intricacies of two hearts in a relationship rather than more narrative based love songs. I’m very inspired by nature and use natural metaphors a lot in my songs such as “Bare Feet”, “The Difference”, “Twilight’s Cryin’” and “Sunshine”.

TV: How would you describe the sound on the record? Are there any particular themes to it?

CJ: Uplifting, high-energy country-pop with lyrical depth. Themes include: learning to be more confident and authentic (“Tough Guys”), believing in your dreams even when you can’t see them yet (“Sunshine”), learning to appreciate a lost love for what it was (“Twilight’s Cryin’”), and knowing that love will come at the right time (“Worth the Wait”).

TV: The whole writing and recording process; how long did it initially take to get it to where you wanted it to be?

CJ: The album ended up taking a year to create. My team and I were anticipating one month initially, haha! I kept writing more and more songs and we kept building bigger and bigger productions, so the process took much longer than originally planned. We had to re-record some songs to get them just right.

TV: You’ve got to open up for some big names in the music industry such as The Eagles, Jimmy Buffet, Tim McGraw & Faith Hill etc. how do you feel about that? It must’ve been somewhat overwhelming and exciting!

CJ: It’s a huge honor to have artists who have been my heroes since I was a young girl take me under their wing and introduce me to their fans. I am so blessed to have some of my favorite artists of all time as mentors and friends. And I feel that building my fan base on the road is the best use of my time right now. I absolutely LOVE playing for new audiences and making new fans. I love touring; it is a privilege and joy to tour with artists at this level.

TV:What do you have planned for the rest of 2018? Any plans for future headlining shows? Or new music?

CJ:I will be opening up for Zac Brown Band and OneRepublic, Jimmy Buffett, and Kip Moore this Fall. And definitely stay tuned for a special new song sometime this Fall or early next year!

TV:Is there anything you’d like to share with your fans before we conclude this interview?

CJ:I feel so, so blessed to be doing what I love on bigger and bigger stages. THANK YOU to anyone who has listened to or connected with my music. I can’t wait to meet you at a show and thank you personally!
