6LACK (pronounced Black) is in the midst of a world tour for his latest release, Since I Had A Lover. The scene was fantastic at The Anthem. The first opener, QUIN, set was filled with a celestial, soothing and sultry vibe. The Los Angeles native has been on the music scene since 2016 and has collaborated and/or toured with Syd, G-Eazy, and Erykah Badu.
After an extremely quick change, the newest sensation out of St. Louis, Jordan Ward . The dancer turned musician commanded the stage with his high-energy performance and it didn’t hurt that the crowd knew most of his songs word for word, which made his set hype from beginning to end.
DJ Tonee kept the energy at 10, by rocking a set that catered to the DC crowd with a mix of Go-Go, Hip-Hop and alternative R&B. The everyone in the venue was dancing and singing along –it was a party!
After rocking with DJ Tonee, it was time for the performance everyone was there to see, 6LACK. His silhouette emerged from the backlit stage in front of a screen with an illuminating photo of a tree with full, lush green leaves.
You could say this show was close to a homecoming for the Baltimore native. As per usual he didn’t disappoint. 6LACK’s set spanned from East Atlanta Love Letter to FREE 6LACK to his recent album Since I Have A Lover. Its safe to say that 6LACK gave us his heart and soul and the fans cherished every moment.
