Anthrax wrapped up the current leg of their 40th anniversary tour Sunday night at the Fillmore in Philadelphia, PA. The guys have one U.S. date left on the schedule when they play the Blue Ridge Rock Fest, after that they will head to Europe at the end of September and will tour thru the beginning of November. No word on if there will be a possible winter tour here in the states to wrap up the year or not as of yet. For fans who were not lucky enough to catch one of the shows, you can still buy 40th anniversary merch HERE.
Hatebreed got things started for the evening, with a fifteen-song set that had fans moshing and starting a huge circle pit early. Fans never had a chance to catch their breath as it was hardcore hit after hit with songs like, “As Diehard as They Come,” “This Is Now,” “Looking Down the Barrel of Today,” and “I Will Be Heard” closing out the set.
Hatebreed has announced their ’20 Years Of Perseverance’ tour that is slated to kick off on October 25th in Elmira, NY at The L. The tour will crisscross the country before wrapping up in San Diego, CA on November 20th. Fans can get tickets HERE. Fans can purchase Hatebreed’s latest release, Weight of the False Self HERE.
Black Label Society was up next for their co-headlining set. The Philadelphia chapter of the Black Label Society came out in force for an incredible ninety minute set which featured an absolute guitar clinic by both Zakk and Dario. Black Label Society released their eleventh studio album, Doom Crew Inc. back in November of last year, and the only songs from the new release to make the night’s setlist were, “You Made Me Want to Live,” and “Set You Free.” Prior to “In This River,” a tribute to Vinnie Paul and Dimebag Darrell Zakk and crew took a minute to wish bassist John DeServio a happy birthday. One of the big highlights of this tour is the dueling guitar solos between Zakk and Dario during “Fire It Up.”
Black Label Society will kick off their own headlining tour on August 30th, the tour will wrap up a month later in Brazil. Fans can purchase Doom Crew Inc., tickets, and VIP packages for the upcoming tour HERE.
Closing out the night was the band everyone had come out to see, Anthrax. Fans wasted no time getting a circle pit going and crowd surfing their way to the stage as the band kicked things off with “Among the Living.” By the second song “Caught in a Mosh,” the Fillmore was indeed caught in a mosh as more fans joined the circle pit that took up most of the floor area. With forty years and eleven studio albums to choose from, Anthrax had no trouble filling the night’s set with hit after hit. With forty years and over ten million record sells later Anthrax still sound and perform as good as they ever have. The set included fan favorites, “Madhouse,” “Antisocial,” “I Am the Law,” and wrapped up with Public Enemy’s “Bring the Noise,” and “Indians.”
