Celebrating 10 years of pure bliss in the Woodlands in Dover Delaware. Firefly Music Festival returns to the Dover International Speedway for a weekend full of beautiful weather, an beautiful atmosphere, beautiful bazaar with some insanely talented entrepreneurs/artists and let me not forget the INSANELY stellar lineup full of some fan favorite musicians.
Thursday, day one, was a little rainy in the beginning but a little rain can’t put a damper on the kick off to an amazing weekend. As soon as doors opened for fans, they dispersed all over the place, some made their way to snag a good spot up against the barricade at the MainStage, some headed over to the treehouse stage that was nestled in the woods and some even flocked to the bazaar to support some local artists. The day consisted of music of many different genres, some artists to highlight from day one includes The Unlikely Candidates, Medium Build, Mannequin Pussy, Willow and Jungle. Closing out day one of Firefly was New Jersey native, Halsey.

Moving on to day two, it was a chilly one but the weather overall was absolutely ideal for a music festival in my opinion. Just to throw my two cents out there I have to say day two was my favorite. The nostalgia was real, and by nostalgia here what I mean: All Time Low, Avril Lavigne, Weezer and the gods for the emo kids, My Chemical Romance. It honestly doesn’t get any better than that. When you’re not enjoying the ferris wheel overlooking the beautiful sight lines, you can be enjoying silent disco in the thicket, or enjoying all the many types of food trucks that catered to many or finding some shade under the pavilion and getting rattled by the bass of the EDM artists you could be relaxing within the tree lines in a hammock enjoying the artists who absolutely killed it on the main stage on day two, such as All Time Low, Mod Sun, Anna of the North, Gus Dapperton and Cold War Kids.

Unfortunately Big Sean had to cancel his set but that’s okay, Cordae held down the fort over on the backyard stage and really set the bar “Hi-Level” (this is a pun, if you know, you know) for Zedd who closed out the night over here. Roughly right around an half hour or so before 10:30 pm fans flocked over to the MainStage waiting anxiously for My Chemical Romance to take the stage, how could you tell? Well the “Swarm” noise grew louder and louder, the lights then went out and the band kicked off their hour and a half long set. The air was filled with pure nostalgia and we were all for it.
A long night of music, dancing and having the time of their lives, the attendees of Firefly Music festival started trickling in early to catch Jagwar Twin and Sueco kick the day off on the Main Stage. If you were really feeling the nostalgia during day two, well you’re really going to feel it on day three with Green Day closing out the main stage. Day three of Firefly music festival was a bit warmer but the artists were even hotter. A few artists I’d like to highlight as fan favorites included Bleachers, The Head and the Heart, Wolf Alice, Haim and last but not least one of the BEST sets to take on the main stage, YUNGBLUD! I can confidently say Yungblud was one of the GREATEST sets on Saturday here at Firefly. The amount of energy he puts into his performance is simply amazing. The crowd were off their feet jumping the entire time he was on stage.
As the night grew closer to the end of an amazing day three, the crowd grew bigger and full of anticipation as they waited for the lengendary Green Day to take the stage. Right before Green Day took the stage their infamous drunk bunny took the stage to get the crowd hyped up and ready to rock out with Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tre Cool. Closing out day three was Porter Robinson on the backyard stage.

The final day of the 10th year celebration of Firefly. It was quite bitter sweet honestly because being in the Woodlands its magical, it releases you from your stresses and creates a safe and happy place for so many people. The final day consisted of some amazing sets from some insanely talented people. To highlight a few artists from the final day, Flor, Magic City Hippies, The Regrettes and Max all grew some pretty large crowds and kept the energy alive.
Now please note, due to a storm that projected to hit the festival grounds, the festival team/security had to safely evacuate everyone and we thank them for doing so safely and in a timely manner. The notice of this storm came and interrupted Saint Jhn on the main stage which was just getting started. The fans didn’t want to stop as they kept chanting “Fuck that storm”. Granted it didn’t go their way but they tried. After roughly an hour and a half or so, fans were allowed to come back into the festival grounds to enjoy the rest of the 2022 Firefly Music Festival artists. Dua Lipa closed out the night.

This year at the woodlands was a magical one. We would love to thank Firefly Music Festival, the promoters, the artists/musicians, the hard working crew hands, the security and most importantly the ladies (The Oriel Co.) who handle all PR for this festival from the bottom of our hearts for making this one of the best music festivals on the east coast. Each year this festival gets better and better. We can’t wait for Firefly 2023!
