On Sunday, October 30th, The Vinyl went to Lexi Jayde’s “This is Closure” tour at Songbyrd in Washington DC. On Halloween Eve, fans came out to celebrate with costumes and Lexi and her band all dressed up as Harry Potter characters. Jack Gray, who is an Australian singer and songwriter was the opener and the crowd was so happy to see him! He even took a fan’s BeReal, the new social media app craze. It was great seeing how Jack also interacted with the crowd and his incredible talents on the keys, guitar and his vocals. At one point he was playing the guitar and the keys at the same time.
I found that my familiarity with Lexi’s discography made me very excited to experience and review her performance. Some of my favorite songs from her discography include ‘newbury park’, ‘homesick’, ‘drunk text me’, and her newest single ‘what’s the matter with you’.
Some of the most memorable moments throughout Lexi’s set were her constant interactions and heart-felt conversations with all of her fans during the show. It felt like everyone in the room was everybody else’s friend and everyone was having fun dancing and singing in Halloween costumes. During her performance, many of the songs began with an explanation of how she originally wrote it, pulling stories from her real-life and singing her emotions and experiences with everyone singing along.
