College Park MD: The Maryland Terps took a 37-16 victory over Kent State on Saturday afternoon at Capital One Field at Maryland Stadium. The Terps are now 4-0 for the first time since 2016 heading into a huge match-up with #5 Iowa next Friday night. Some key highlights include Quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa continued his continuing hot start by throwing for 384 yards on 31-of-41 with three touchdown passes.
Another key highlight includes Tayon Fleet-Davis, who rushed for 60 yards and two touchdowns – Fleet-Davis had a multi-touchdown game and it being the third of his career. The Terps’ defense side continued to pressure Kent State all afternoon as they had five sacks (the first career sacks for Beau Brade, Demeioun Robinson, and Kobi Thomas which happened all in the fourth quarter).
Maryland opened the scoring in the second half with a 29-yard rushing touchdown. Offense kept it rolling on the next drive as bruising runs by Isaiah Jacobs in which allowed Tagovailoa complete a successful nine-yard score by Dyches. This extended the Terp lead to 37-9. A Kent State touchdown cut the lead to 37-16. Maryland ended the game winning 37-16 over Kent State.
